The UK is commonly known for its gorgeous stately houses, castles and churches – but it is the ruined abbeys that makes our eyes shine. Hauntingly beautiful, the ruins makes us remember of a medieval past filled by knights, kings and prayer. Standing there feels like travelling through time.
#1 Fountains Abbey & Studley Royal - Yorkshire
This stunning venue gives the perfect backdrop for a fall ceremony and definitely one on our list for you to consider for your autumn wedding day.
Fountains Abbey & Studley Royal is set in the heart of Yorkshire with its elegant ornamental Georgian water garden and medieval deer park. A National Trust property, the estate offers the opportunity to celebrate your wedding day in a setting unparalleled in beauty and steeped in nine hundred years of vibrant history.
The picturesque ruins of the medieval monastery and the serene elegance of the 18th-century Water Gardens at Studley Royal share the distinction of being designated a World Heritage site, an honour bestowed upon only 26 other sites in the UK. By choosing to hold your wedding day at Fountains Abbey you will be adding your own special occasion to a unique tapestry of history and will also be helping ensure the future of the estate's heritage.
#2 Hampton Court House – Surrey
Hampton Court House, a breath-taking Georgian mansion, has the most unique architectural features and was once described as being ‘suitable for a wealthy merchant Prince’. That means it’s LITERALLY worthy of royalty and just from looking at the pictures you can see how this is true. It’s elegant, magnificent and incredibly presented and we truly envy anyone who visits the Hampton Court House for their nuptials!

#3 Stourhead Gardens - Wiltshire

#7 Pestana Viking- Porches, Algarve, Portugal
The ultimate getaway recommendation: the Algarve!
If you just want to enjoy the sun and have the beautiful sea as your backdrop in the autumn months we have one last recommendation on our list.

Portugal is a privileged destination for a wedding ceremony in Europe and the Algarve an extraordinary destination for the beauty of its landscapes, its beaches and for the excellent value for money of its hotels, especially in low season! Affordable autumn wedding abroad - and you don't have to worry about the temperature either!
The autumn in Algarve is typically hot to begin with, cooling only slightly too warm temperatures by November. Late-season sun seekers can still be found sunbathing throughout the autumn, enjoying average daily maximum temperatures ranging from 26°C in September to 19°C in November.
Our recommended venue is The Pestana Viking, an exceptional hotel, located in the most beautiful municipality in the Algarve: Lagoa. This hotel is managed by the “Pestana” group (the largest chain of luxury hotels in Portugal); it offers in addition to a 4-star hotel, lush gardens, two magnificent outdoor pools, a spa (hammam, sauna, indoor pool and gym as well as massage rooms). The wedding ceremony takes place among sublime palm trees facing the most beautiful beaches in Europe and the ocean. You're almost back on holiday right?
The hotel has many rooms to accommodate your whole family at very affordable prices, especially in low season (spring and autumn!). Choose your dress and suit and get ready to say "I do" in the autumn sunshine!
